I’ve been compiling a list of home based business ideas for this website, there are a few gray areas but I’m attempting to stick with ideas where:

• a large part of the work can be carried out in your own home (such as taking calls, organizing appointments, writing quotes or reports, marketing and advertising your business etc)
• no special qualifications are required
• where the work can easily be done on a part time basis and
• where the start-up costs are low

For example, I don’t list the jobs suited to qualified plumbers and electricians etc but do list other activities where outside appointments are a part of the business. As this list is likely to grow I’m ‘promoting’ it to a page of its own rather than keeping it here with the regular posts. I have said before that affiliate marketing is a great way to get a taste for online marketing in general. I have been doing affiliate marketing quite successfully since 2000 and have no intention of giving it up anytime soon. In fact I’m currently drafting a new website dedicated to the subject.

There’s plenty of bull to wade through when you start looking into this rewarding little activity and plenty of sites looking to charge you for their own interpretation of the correct ways to go about your affiliate marketing business. Most are really offering compendiums of info you can find for yourself if you know where to look. Many of these guides are useful in that the info is at least structured into a formatted and indexed document you can keep handy so I’m not saying they are all worthless – just that they’re not necessarily original or up to date.

There is however one recommendation I would like to make. It’s not a one off guide but a whole system of constantly updated info complete with tutorials, videos, research tools, analysis tools, even free web hosting but most cool of all (for me anyway) a private forum where you will find info not discussed elsewhere. There is even one-on-one support though you probably won’t need it if you just share your problem on the forum!

Having waded through more crap than you would believe I’m very happy to give this club a big thumbs up, that’s because I continue to learn more there than from any other source. At just $30 per month you can hardly go wrong in trying it out. Most folks find they stay members for a LONG time, there is only one reason for that – Members Make Money!

A home business plan like any, encompasses several aspects of the business from its establishment and its goals to the methods it uses to achieve them and the anticipated results. The business plan may vary from business to business but an outline might look something like the following.

First an introduction, setting out the aims of the business and what it does. This section would normally also talk about the ownership and structure of the business (whether a partnership or limited company etc).

We might then expand the plan to talk about the business environment, for instance what is the level of demand for your product or service? How heavy is the competition in the market and how will you overcome it? What is it that you will do better or differently? How will your business be marketed and advertised?
