You might find some emails in your inbox saying get this ebook before the price goes up – its the best thing since sliced bread and shows you everything you need to master Google Adwords and Adsense etc. Take my advice and avoid it like you would the plague!
I got a copy and can tell you its extremely basic, in fact a badly written ebook that is more likely to get you into trouble than it is likely to help you. The offer is really just to get you into a heavy upsell for other products, I can only hope there is some value in those.
The book tells you to grab some articles from an article site because “they are all optimized for for high Google rankings”, so by using them yourself you will get high rankings too. No mention at all of the fact that Google hates listing the same content twice!
Worse, the advice to surround the articles with adsense then go buy some Adwords traffic and fire it at those pages. No mention at all of Google’s hate for arbitrage!
There is even a section where the writer advises not building a site based on your likes and interests because it won’t be profitable. Four paragraphs later he writes of the need to choose a theme that you have a passion for – AAAGGHH I don’t get it, do you?
Want some more of these Secret Google Tactics?
How about these pearls of wisdom:
“Select fast moving and popular products that third party merchants have put up on Clickbank for affiliates like you to choose from and sell and earn commission of” – eh?
“Make a decision on the templates to upon which to build your sites” – huh?
“There are some steps to take in order to get traffic from the PPC search engine from Yahoo. Make sure to select the right keywords you want to use in your campaign” – What the f…? “Make sure to select the right keywords” this is a secret Google tactic that we have to pay to learn about?!
The explanation of Clickbank’s workings are hilarious, too funny to repeat here, I’ll save those comments for a comedy blog or forum.
I could go on about how the writer wants you to be a better affiliate by putting conversion code on your thank you page – completely forgetting most affiliates do not get to put their code on the merchants thank you page! Because they are affiliates…. not merchants.
Or there’s the one about…
…but I got tired from laughing so I’m going to save the rest of this book for when I’ve had a bad day and need a good laugh.
Oh no wait, there is one that jumped out at me as I scrolled to see how long this book is:
“You are not allowed to use a call to action in your headline or description lines due to Google’s Terms of Service and they will ban the ad” – what? since when? I’ve been doing it wrong and got myself banned and just didn’t notice it?
Enough already, do yourself a favour and just read all the good material that Google gives you when you advertise with them!
