Just saw this excellent and funny little video explaining the principles of social media marketing.
Its aimed at larger enterprises than most work at home businesses but the principles are the same no matter what your size. If you have a business in just about anything you can learn from this how to spread the word in a positive light.

While most of us have concentrated on building websites with TLDs (top level domains) .com, .net or various country versions it looks like a whole raft of top level domains are to become available soon.
ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) is expected to vote this week to allow generic words such as ‘love’ or even ‘hate’ to be used as TLDs. Firms would even be able to register their own name as a TLD.
Prices for these are likely to be out of the range of most of us, maybe as large as $50,000 but large companies will probably spend up big for branding reasons. I guess those with registered trademarks and worldwide brands will want to take advantage.
.im or .homebusiness anyone?

I came across an interesting idea at another site which comments on how so many business owners out there do not have a clue as to how to go about getting themselves online and how to get traffic to their sites. This represents an enormous opportunity for internet savvy work at home individuals like you. Why not charge these businesses near you to set up and manage websites. WordPress and other blog programs can be used to build neat sophisticated yet simple to use and run websites.
Case Stevens’ blog on affordable internet marketing talks about how he came across this very situation with a family business and he also links to Andrew Cavanagh’s free report on the subject, pick it up there or from my downloads page (see right of page). Case relates just how ignorant some folk are with a story of how the concept of linking blogs and sites together had to be explained to his sister in law.
Anyway, go check it out and get yourself a copy of that report, there is a whole goldfield of opportunity even just in the small businesses near you.
